Welcome to OPSEU
Local 5107's site.
Dedicated to informing
and educating our
"new" local within
OPSEU. One of the
prime reasons the
Local Executive
decided to start a
website was to
encourage
"Information Sharing".
This being said, we
are still in the
beginning stages of
development and
hope to have much
more information
available through our
site in the coming
months. Please have
a look around, as any
suggestions and/or
recommendations are
greatly appreciated.

Sisters and Brothers,

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Newsletter/Communications
course, held at the Delawanna Inn in Honey Harbour. During this three day
course we learned valuable techniques such as editing, use of graphics, and
various news writing skills.

Our class was lead by Laurie Sabourin and Don Ford who were available
throughout the whole course for instruction and feedback. We were divided
into groups, given a deadline, assigned Editors, Managing Editors,
Journalists, and we were off developing our first Newsletter.

Once the stories were complete they were printed then laid out for the Final
Draft. After all group members approved the Final Draft they were copied and
distributed to all educational classes that weekend.

I would encourage all LBED members to sign up for our Regional Educational.
The courses are usually offered seasonally and can be found on the OPSEU
website under Education. Look for region 5.

Colleen Mac Leod
